After Willo Flood left Manchester’s City for Cardiff’s yesterday, Stuart Pearce has revealed his thinking behind the deal that saw the midfielder join the Welsh side.

Pearce said: “It was a good financial offer from Cardiff that was beneficial to the Club. And with Willo being of that age, 21-years-old, he wants to go and play first team football.

“He’s not been able to do that with us and now due to the arrival of several first team players and with some more Academy players coming up, it would have been difficult for him.

“So if we can get him out playing football, we feel as a football club, we’ve helped to coach the players and get them to play as high as they possibly can.

“Willo’s a fantastic kid who gave his all while he was with us and we can only wish him well at Cardiff City.”
