Hatem Trabelsi will start training with Manchester City towards the end of next week after the paperwork for his move to the club was finalised.

Speaking to mcfc.co.uk on Friday morning, manager Stuart Pearce said: “We’ve just had the all clear to go ahead and get his work permit, and he should be in with us by later next week.

“We’ll have to look at his fitness, and he has been training over the last few weeks but I would say that he won’t be available until after the first three games of the season. He’ll give us decent attacking options as well as his skills as a defender.”

The 29-year-old Tunisian international, who spent five years with Ajax and appeared for his country at the last three World Cup tournaments, moves to City on a one-year contract with the option of extending for another two.
