Former City keeper David James has earnt a recall to the set-up along with fellow Portsmouth team mate Sol Campbell.
Speaking at his pre-derby press conference ahead of McClaren naming his squad, former England head coach Eriksson said of Micah: “He’s very strong, and of course I have not seen the England squad for next week, but I think he will be in it.
“He can play right back, centre half and someone told me he was in central midfield early in his career although I’ve not seen him there. He’s exceptional for his age.
“He makes a good pairing with Richard Dunne, and if he makes a mistake he can repair it with his great pace. Most people don’t get the chance to do that, but he can.”
