Speaking to mcfc.co.uk the City Manager said: “Tonight the reserves are playing and a few players from the senior team could be involved, so that will be interesting to see.
“Then of course with not many players in training, we can give them some special training, they’ve done gym work today and a lot of sprints. We still have players like Elano, Bianchi, Hamann and Garrido out there and it’s good for them.”
When asked if he now finds this time in the season frustrating with so many players away on international duty, Sven replied: “It’s more frustrating when we lost our last game at Blackburn because when you lose a game you want to have them in the day after to try and put things right.
“That’s life and it’s good that we have many international players because it means we’ve got a lot of good football players.”
And despite the Ewood defeat being City’s second 1-0 league loss on the spin, Eriksson remains unconcerned that any early optimism is beginning to fade.
“No, not concern, I don’t think so. It was the first game of all the games we’ve played so far this season where we didn’t perform as well as we can. The players agreed with me that our performance wasn’t as it should have been.
“The last two games in the Premier League we’ve lost 1-0. They were two difficult games to be fair, but anyhow I’m not happy with that and I’m sure that the players are not happy with that. Now we’ll see what happens when they are back for Aston Villa a week on Sunday.”
After the weekend’s results the Blues still lie fifth in the table and the Manager is quietly content with the start, but will hope to return to winning ways once the full squad reconvene.
He said: “It’s not a bad start, but we were not happy with the performance at Blackburn last weekend. In all the other games, I think we showed exactly what we can do and what we were suppose to do, it’s not a bad start. I’m rather happy with it.”
