The Blues left it late with the three goals coming inside the last eight minutes, but they deserved their victory none-the-less.
Following the win, Kenny said: “It was a very good victory and three late goals. The players response was excellent when we went one behind.
“It was pretty even and could have gone either way. I was very pleased with the response from the players, it was the correct one and we came back very strongly.
“It was an enjoyable night and a good result for the boys in the end.”
The Blues gave run-outs to Ousmane Dabo, Emile Mpenza, Michael Ball and Jihai Sun and afterwards Jackett noted their input on the night’s events.
“I felt the senior pros did so well,” he said.
“Getting those lads coming in to a reserve group like this, such as Michael Ball and Jihai Sun, they were excellent – not just in their performance but their attitude and the way they handled the kids. That sets good standards for the younger players to play to.”
Jackett also had praise for two of those young players who performed very well. Marc Laird was up against £17m man Anderson in the centre of midfield and the young Scot made him look fairly ordinary.
Kenny stated: “He’s got terrific energy has Marc and an eye for goal as well. He made some good runs into the box and in the first half he was unlucky not to score once or twice.
“I’m very pleased with him, he’s a very enthusiastic and energetic player, he can get you a goal going forward too.”
It was also a good night for the returning Kelvin Etuhu, after being out since January with a bad knee injury, his 73rd minute introduction gave City that vital cutting edge.
“The plan was to give him 15 minutes,” Kenny revealed.
“He’d been out for a long time with a knee injury, but he gave us some pace and power down the right hand side, I was pleased with him.
“It’s terrific to see a young feller who’d made a bright start to his career overcome what was a career threatening injury.
“He’s hungry, strong and has worked very hard in training. I’ve been with since day one of pre-season and it’ll be terrific now if he can go on and get back to where he was and pick up a very promising career.”
