Nedum Onuoha will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his left shoulder, Sven-Goran Eriksson has confirmed.

The defender suffered the injury during Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea and after undergoing keyhole surgery on Monday he has now been ruled out for the rest of the 2007/08 campaign.

The injury is a big blow to the 21-year-old, who has made 21 appearances this season and bagged his first senior goal for City, the winner in the recent win over Spurs.

Sven says, “He is out for the rest of the season, but hopefully he will be OK when we start pre-season. The doctor has told me he will be out for three months.

“He had surgery today, but I’m told that at this stage it looks good although he is going to be out for a long time now.”

Nedum’s injury comes with Micah Richards still absent following knee surgery in late February, and the Manager admits it’s a blow to have another defender unavailable.
“It’s a problem I could do without for sure! He played well against Chelsea, and it’s been good for him to play so many times recently, so it’s a blow but we’ll just have to get on with it.”
