The hard-fought win over the Carling Cup winners moved the Blues closer to the pack of clubs chasing European football next season, but Eriksson wouldn’t be drawn on the possibilities.
He declared: “This time we are not going to get carried away – it is Bolton away in the next game and that’s all to talk about – then we’ll see at the end of the season what’s happening.
“You are dragged into it because everyone speaks about it. Let’s be happy for the win and concentrate from Tuesday and Wednesday on Bolton.
“I’m not talking about Europe or not or Fair Play or Intertoto qualification. We will concentrate on Bolton and that’s it.”
As for Sunday’s game, as well as Nedum’s first ever goal, it was the Blues’ first goal from a defender to which Sven added: “It’s good to see a centre half score from a corner. We haven’t seen that this season and I heard that it was Onuoha’s first goal in the Premier League – very good.
“Every game Onuoha plays for us I must say it’s more and more difficult to leave him out because every time he plays he does very well for us.”
Returning to the game, the Manager underlined: “It was an extremely important victory for us because if we would have lost you are almost afraid that the heads will go down amongst the fans and amongst the players as well. But they showed good spirit and now this is a small turning point for the last eight games.”
Particularly coming from behind as Sven turned statto to tell us: “It shows strength to do that. I read recently that it only happens 10% of the time when a team concedes first to come back and win the game in the Premier League.
“So that’s a good statistic and we are one of them, maybe it’s 11% now!”
