Jordan is the goalkeeper for the Manchester City Ability Counts team, and he recently had a morning’s coaching with the Blues at the Carrington training ground.
The 17-year-old then played in last week’s pre-Paralympic tournament in the Ukraine and was voted as Team GB’s player of the tournament.
Blues’ goalkeeping coach Eric Steele watched Jordan train alongside Joe Hart, Andreas Isaksson and Richard Martin and he told MCFC.co.uk, “Jordan came to us on the Monday after the Fulham game, and he really lifted everyone’s spirits. He was not fazed one bit by working with the likes of Joe and Andreas, and we all found it quite a humbling experience.
“His handling is excellent, he has terrific ability and I’m delighted that we were able to help him improve a little bit more. I really hope he is in the Team GB squad for Beijing, he deserves it.”
Jordan also plays for the England Cerebral Palsy team, and has already represented his country at the European Championships and last year’s World Championships in Brazil. City’s Ability Counts team won the Manchester County FA’s Ability Counts league & cup double in 2007.
The team will be further boosted by the recent grant of nearly £120,000 awarded to City In The Community by the new Premier League/PFA Community fund.
Thanks to the grant, CITC will be able to appoint a full time disability officer, organise football coaching in special schools across Manchester, arrange inter-school football competitions and hold free soccer schools for young people with disabilities during school holidays.
