Emmanuel Adebayor can't wait until the Carling Cup quarter-finals bring the visit of his old team Arsenal ... and the manager he freely admits turned him into a world-class player.

Arsene Wenger snapped Manu up from his former club Monaco in 2006, nurturing his talent to produce 46 goals in 104 games before the Togo striker left the Emirates in a high-profile summer deal.

And Adey, who was on target in City’s 4-2 win in September, declared: “I love Arsene Wenger, and I will always keep that love for Arsene - he is the person who made me what I am today.

“I just want to show him what he has taught me in the three years that I was there, and that is the main thing I will keep in mind for the quarter-final next month.”

Adebayor shares manager Mark Hughes’ desire to reach Wembley after early-round wins over Crystal Palace, Fulham and Scunthorpe, and insisted: “Arsenal is a good Carling Cup draw for us.

“Now we have to focus on our job, because we can do it. We want to be in the Carling Cup final. We have beaten them once, we have to beat them again.

We have a a good team spirit and we have to believe we can do it - we’re at home, we can win if we really want it enough

City’s joint leading scorer served a three-match FA suspension in the wake of a highly-charged Barclays Premier League match in September for stamping on his former team-mate Robin van Persie.

But he told mcfc.co.uk: “What happened last time is gone. I’ve told everybody I am sorry for the incident. I made a mistake. We all make mistakes, then you correct them. It won’t happen again.

“I was at Arsenal for years and I have nothing against them, the emotion just took over. I have so many good memories of my time there. It’s going to be a good feeling for me to play against them.”
