Last summer’s giant Carlos Tevez poster really got tongues wagging, and in September Emmanuel Adebayor’s face in mural form dominated the space outside the City Store in the Arndale Centre in the run-up to the game against Arsenal.
Now its Shaun’s turn ahead of the clash with his old side Chelsea on December 5th, and City’s Head of Marketing Chris Kay explained the thinking behind the campaign.
“We are the heart of the City and our players and fans are at the heart of this football club,” he declared.
“Like the Adebayor Arndale execution this second instalment of the ‘Big Four’ campaign again positions City at the heart of Manchester through the media used, via its cultural relevance, and with the choice of a home-grown Academy legend in Shaun.”
Wright-Phillips is also delighted and surprised by the impact of the posters.
“I’m very proud, it’s overwhelming really! It’s nice to be the main feature of such a big game and see these posters about me around the city,” he said.
