Emmanuel Adebayor thinks that Sunday's game against Fulham is the exactly the kind of tricky encounter that City must safely negotiate to maintain their push for a place in the top four.

The Blues have a 100% record at home so far this season, but Roy Hodgson’s side this weekend is likely to be nearer to his first choice selection than the one that led City for a while in September’s Carling Cup tie.

The Cottagers’ win in the league on City’s home turf last April went a long way to securing their European qualification, but for the Blues’ talismanic striker Sunday represents a chance for his side to show that their own European ambitions are alive and well.

Ade said, “If our dream is to be in the top four, we have to win all our home games. We are giving ourselves a great chance of doing that, because we always create plenty of chances at home and so far we have taken maximum points. We have to look to keep that going, and we have a good opportunity to do that against Fulham.

“Fulham have a lot of good players, Kamara is a good footballer as well as being big and strong. Zamora is good also, and they are strong in defence. Hangeland scored against Roma and we will have to bar careful when they have set-pieces.

City go into Sunday’s Barclays Premier League encounter on the back of two successive away draws, which Ade thinks need to be into the proper context rather than being frustrated about points dropped,

He declared, “The point we got at Aston Villa was a very good one, we even could have won that one but when you think that two weeks later Chelsea lost there that made our point a very good result.

“At Wigan we had to play with 10 men for the last part of the match after Pablo had been sent off, and I had taken a knock to my ankle in the second half as well. But the most important thing is that we have not lost these last two games, and we’re showing our fighting qualities.”
