Yaya Toure is hoping the Blues can vent their frustration at yesterday’s defeat by Sunderland by returning to winning ways against Blackburn Rovers on September 11.

The international break means City have to wait almost a fortnight to get back to Premier league action, but Yaya is determined to use the negatives from the Stadium of Light loss positively.

“I don’t like losing and I think it’s important we put this game behind us quickly, get back to working hard in training and in our next match and move on quickly,” said the powerful Ivorian.

“We’re all very disappointed to lose our first match because we know that if we’d taken our chances in the first half, the result would have been completely different.

“Nobody is blaming Carlos for his missed opportunity  – football is a strange game sometimes and strange things happen, but he is our captain and a very important player for us and we had other chances to score that we didn’t take, too.”

Yaya admitted he is feeling at home already with City, but promised he and the team will improve as they become more familiar with each other’s game.

“I’m feeling strong and enjoying my football, but there is more to come from me and this team,” he said. “We are mostly a new team and we’ll get stronger together and the understanding will get better each time we play.

“I like my role in the team a lot because it allows me to get forward and join the attacks, which I enjoy.

I have played defensive roles in midfield for a number of years so it’s nice to be able to express myself more

“I also love the atmosphere at the grounds in England and the passion of the fans. The football is quicker and the tackles tend to fly in, but I’m feeling very settled already and, as I say, there is much more to come from myself and this team.”

Yaya also believes former La Liga colleague David Silva will prove his worth when he has had time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

“I know David very well and have seen him play many times in Spain and he is a very good player,” he said. “I think in two or three months, everyone will see just how good he is.”
