“Christmas in Wonderland” was a chance for the James Milner Foundation to raise funds for the three national charities NSPCC, Help for Heroes and Leukemia and Lymphoma Research set against a spectacular festive backdrop.
Naturally, several of James’ teammates were in attendance, including David Silva, Joe Hart, Gareth Barry, Scott Sinclair, Joleon Lescott, Richard Wright, Aleksandar Kolarov, Javi Garcia, Gael Clichy, Micah Richards, Maicon, Pablo Zabaleta and Edin Dzeko.
There was a whole range of fun activities for guests to enjoy, including dodgems and waltzers which the City squad members were only too happy to make use of.
Luminaries from the world of football also showed their support for this worthy cause, including Milner’s former teammates Alan Shearer, Shay Given and Stephen Warnock.
Celebrities and sportsmen and women joined the fun too, including members of The Wanted, Helen Flanagan, Kim Marsh, Faye White MBE, Steve Harmison MBE and Gordon Taylor OBE.
Sky Sports presenters Hayley McQueen and Simon Thomas compered the Christmas in Wonderland show which proved to be an eye-popping extravaganza of sport, music and real life magic.
TV magician Dynamo kicked off the event with his brand of mind-bending illusions, much to the delight of the 550 attendees, who were then treated to the musical stylings of Kim Marsh, Uneeq, F2, Bo Bruce and Lawson, the latter welcoming a special guest singer onto stage.
Attendees then took part in an auction in which pieces of MCFC merchandise were put under the hammer with all proceeds going to the James Milner Foundation.
The James Milner Foundation raises funds and awareness to benefit and promote national charities including the NSPCC, Help For Heroes and Leukaemia Research as well as supporting many regional initiatives.
The Foundation is a charity to promote healthy recreation for the benefit of young people in the United Kingdom by the development, improvement and provision of opportunities in sports, in particular football, rugby and cricket.
