The Italian chief was annoyed that his men had let slip a two-goal lead ten minutes into the second half.
“Roberto’s words were not loud but were profound,” revealed Platt who took over post-match duties from the hoarse manager.
“He was not happy at the gift of the first goal and the lack of concentration that allowed Spurs back into the game so soon after City had established the lead. He made himself clear in no uncertain terms.”
Platt, however, made it clear that the City management team were not in churlish mood after the three points sent them eight clear of their victims and completed a double over Tottenham.
“It was an amazing game particularly the second half and a wonderful win for us,” he said. “One minute we looked like losing and then next we have a penalty and win.
“The first half was very tactical and I suspect the two half time team talks were much the same. Don’t get me wrong this was a great win for us but the value on the day is just three points and one win does not win a title. It is still an open race.”
Samir Nasri, scorer of the first goal, was singled out for special praise from the coach.

“He will always take the ball at his feet in difficult situations and accept responsibility. Some people move to a club and hit the ground running and others take time but we have been pleased with his contribution and he took his goal well.”
So, too, did Mario Balotelli, coolly slotting home the injury time penalty after he was fouled by Ledley King. But there was controversy too with the striker accused of catching Scott Parker with his boot as he fell in an earlier challenge.
“I have not seen it on DVD,” Platt told the press. “Until I have seen it from a few angles I wouldn’t like to comment. I didn’t see anything live but we have learned that different angles show different things.
“As for the penalty Mario want to take them and is happy being at the centre of attention in the last minute. I was always confident that he would score.”
