The most impressive record of all – 19 successive Premier League home wins - will be equalled if the Blues beat Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
City have won 18 on the trot and will match Manchester United’s record of 19 with a win over Owen Coyle’s side.
A 20th successive home victory in the league would set a new Premier League milestone, though Chelsea, who hold the majority of top-flight records, will be the next opponents after Bolton.
Three points on Saturday would also a new Club PL record of 14 home wins in one season and two goals against Bolton will also beat the current record of 41 set in 2009/10.
The Blues also have a number of other Chelsea records in their sights, though they will need to keep winning and scoring in the final few months of the season to do so
City History boys...
The Pensioners recorded the most Premier League goals in one season in 2009/10 with 103 and City are 36 goals shy of that tally – it’s a tall order to average three goals per game until the end of the campaign, but not impossible.
Chlesea’s record of 29 wins in 38 Premier League games set in 2004/05 and 2005/06 is a distinct possibility – the Blues have won 20 of the 26 games played to date and any title challenge will surely need at least another nine or ten victories?
The Blues’ goal difference of +47 is on target to challenge Chelsea’s 2009/10 record of +71 and is certainly achievable, though there would need to be a goal-glut at the Etihad Stadium to match the 68 Jose Mourinho’s side scored at Stamford Bridge that same season – City will need 28 in the final six home games to match it!
The most away goals record – 47 held by Manchester United in 2001/02 – is also a big ask with the Blues currently on 27, however, two more wins on the road will create a new club record wins away from home, too.
Barring a disaster, City will almost certainly finish their highest in the Premier League this season, providing Mancini’s boys finish higher than third (set last season).
Sergio Aguero needs seven more Premier League goals to match Carlos Tevez’s Premier League Club record of 23 set in 2009/10.
Finally, City are just eight points away from equalling a Club record of 71 Premier League points and just six goals away from equalling the most goals in a season during the Premier League era of 73 goals set in 2009/10.
All the above is a million miles from the two records we currently hold – the earliest kick-off time of 11.15am v Everton in 2005/05 and the fewest home goals scored in a season – 10 – set in 2006/07!
