The Barclays Player of the Season knows he is just 90 minutes from leading City to the ultimate prize in domestic football – and he can’t wait for the game to begin.
“We are determined and completely focused on what we have to do,” said the Blues’ inspirational skipper.
“The thing is, if I could’ve played the game against QPR the day after the Newcastle game, I would’ve done it.
“It’s because the build-up to this weekend - a whole week between two games is very annoying. You just want to get it over with, but then again, it’s part of what is going to make it so special, I hope.”
Kompany has led from the front all season and at times, looked like a player possessed with completing a mission. Alongside Joleon Lescott, he has forged the best central defensive partnership in the Premier League and he says the squad are ready for the final game.
“I can only tell you one thing, all the players will be ready for it,” he said.
There won’t be the need for talk or a lot of big words; people will know what they need to do on Sunday

“People are saying that this match is somehow different, but there hasn’t been a team that’s come to the Etihad Stadium this season that didn’t have to get something.”
One more victory will end the Blues’ 44-year wait for a top flight title but Kompany knows his side will need to be at the top their game from start to finish to earn the three points needed to write the 2011/12 City team into the history books.
“It’ll be a good game, I’m sure of that,” he said. “Things don’t have to come easy and if QPR give us a good game then fair play to them.
“We just have to be better than them.”
