Yaya Toure is determined to win the Premier League for the City fans he believes are the best in the business.

Yaya, whose brace at Newcastle has put the Blues within 90 minutes of becoming champions for the first time since 1968, now wants to finish the job against QPR on Sunday to reward the backing he’s had from the supporters.

“I came to City to make history, and that is my first objective - to help make a successful football club,” he said.

I want to win it for our fans who have been amazing towards me since the first moment I arrived. In fact, from day one, their support made me even more determined to give them something special back

“Last year, we won the FA Cup and we have to continue like that and next try to win our final match.

“We know it’s going to be tough, but I believe in this team, I believe in the players we have and we know we will have the same fantastic backing we’ve had all season from our fans

“The job is not done yet. We have to keep going because QPR need the points, but it would be amazing if we win. It is for occasions like this I came to City - to make history - and I hope I will make history at the weekend.”

Yaya was also keen to praise Roberto Mancini, who he believes is one of the best managers he’s worked under, adding: “Full credit to Mancini – he is an unbelievable boss.

“He always believes in us and always tells us: ‘Guys you have to believe in yourselves. The most important thing is you have to keep winning games and United can drop some points’ – and he was right.

“Forty-four years is unbelievably long time to wait for another title - it is too many years and for the fans to wait. Now we have one game left and we have to deliver.”
