The Spanish holding midfielder has spoken of his delight at joining the Blues and says he can’t wait to get the latest chapter of his career started.
“I’d just say to the fans that I’ve come here to give absolutely everything,” he said.
“I’m a player who leaves nothing behind on the field; someone who gives his all. I am going to fight as hard as I can for the club.
“City have given me a fantastic opportunity, bringing me into a really great team which will be fighting on all fronts to win trophies, and what the fans will get is that desire and bravery that I try to put into every game I play.”
Garcia has watched the Premier League with admiration over the past few years and he’s still pinching himself he is now a part of it.
“I think you can follow the Premier League anywhere in the world these days, and there’s a fair amount of interest in it in Portugal too, there is TV coverage of all the games every weekend,” he said.
“It’s a league with a very different style; the football is very high tempo and the supporters are right on top of you. It must be great to play in all of these stadia and this was another of the reasons why I came here to play my football.
“I’m really excited because I know that the grounds are always full to capacity and the fans really love their football, supporting their teams in a sportsmanlike way, compared to some other places.
“I can’t wait for my first game to come around so I can enjoy the whole spectacle just as soon as possible.”
Garcia says he is also looking forward to meeting the people of Manchester and getting to know the city really well in the coming weeks and months.
“I’ve never had the chance to visit Manchester other than for football reasons,” he said.
“Last year we were drawn against Manchester United, and so that’s been the only time I’ve been here so I hope to get to know more about the city very soon, they tell me it’s a great place with great people, so I’m keen to see it all for myself.
“Without a doubt, I’m at the biggest club in England, and one of the biggest in Europe currently and I couldn’t be happier.”
