Well, the top tale of the day is the Mirror’s claim City are plotting a £12million bid for Spurs left-back, Danny Rose.
According to David McDonnell: “City are planning a major shake-up of their squad and Rose, who has made 25 Premier League appearances this season, is among their targets.
“Left-back is one of the positions where they are looking to strengthen this summer, with Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy having fallen short there this season.
Rose, who has four years left on his current deal, is seen by City chiefs as the man to fulfil that role - and they are ready to make Spurs an offer for the Yorkshireman.
“City are likely to make an initial bid of £12m, but will probably have to increase that offer to as much as £15m if any deal is to be struck given Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s reputation for getting the most for any player he sells.”
Moving on and never far from the headlines, Paul Pogba’s name has cropped up once again.
This time, Off The Post are the ones featuring the Juventus star, who apparently has not demanded an exit from the club.
As Steven Deeks explains: “The midfielder has been strongly linked with a host of clubs throughout Europe following his impressive displays once again this season with Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United also in the running.
“While [general director Giuseppe] Marotta admitted recently Juve may be powerless to stop Pogba leaving if a substantial offer comes in, he has now hinted the player could stay.”
Marotta apparently told press: “He is the best young player in the world and it is only normal that some of Europe’s biggest clubs want to sign him. But Juventus are a big club as well and we are not easy sellers.”
Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News believe City could save themselves a fortune this summer, thanks to starlet Kelechi Iheanacho.
Writes Stuart Brennan: “The 18-year-old has had a frustrating season since joining the Blues, waiting for a work permit, and then getting injured five minutes into his first game in the youth ranks.
“After a couple of months on the sidelines, he is now back in action, and marked his full debut with a goal in the FA Youth Cup final second leg defeat at Chelsea, and then bagged another as a sub in the under-21s’ International Cup semi-final against Leicester.
“The Nigerian has looked the part in a sky blue shirt, ever since he turned out for the first team on their pre-season tour and scored against Sporting Kansas in a performance that caused manager Manuel Pellegrini to describe him as ‘a very important player for us in the future’.
“City fans are yearning for a home-grown hero and, while Iheanacho is hardly that – having joined from the Taye Academy in his homeland just 18 months ago – he would light the path to the first team if he made the breakthrough.
“Other young Blues have been banging on the door this season – Angelino and Brandon Barker prominent among them – and on-loan youngsters Jason Denayer and Marcos Lopes are likely to get a chance to impress in the summer.
“But Iheanacho has instantly looked ready, both in terms of physicality and ability, and looks like a player who would thrive from playing with better, senior players.”
Finally - and along the same lines - Seko Fofana, who spent the season on loan at Fulham has spoken of his desire to continue his development so he can one day make the step up to City’s senior side.
Quoted in an article on the SkySports website, he declared: “I want to continue to play regularly to progress, but it’s one of my objectives to play for the first team in the future.”
When asked of his inspirations, the midfielder replied: “Yaya Toure is a player who inspires me a lot. He has a huge influence on City’s style and I have learned from watching him play.
“Patrick Vieira has helped me to progress every day. He was a big player in my position so his advice is good. He knows how to get the best from the group and I think he has the quality required to become a great coach.
“I play football management games and select myself alongside Toure!
“I keep working hard to achieve that. It would be an honour to wear the City first-team shirt.”
