Although many in the footballing world have now dismissed the Blues’ chances following the 0-0 draw at Norwich, the skipper has refused to give up.
Quoted in the Manchester Evening News, the Belgian believes his side can still clinch a third Premier League crown.
Referring to Manuel Pellegrini’s recent declaration City needed nine wins out of ten to do so, Kompany stated after Saturday’s game: “It leaves nine out of nine then.
“If that’s what the manager said, we are still on track.”
The Mirror also feature comments from the defender, who has demanded an attacking display in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kyiv.
City are the only remaining English team in the competition, but Kompany warned they must not head into the game expecting to progress.
“It has to happen first,” he cautioned. “I will put it this way - we have always said as a club we need to progress and with the Champions League it was the very first time as a club that we qualified.
“You know, reaching the quarter-finals would give us that little bit more experience and be exciting for the fans.
“All of us are concentrated and will approach it as a game that stands at 0-0 and try to win it. And from there we will see.”

In other news, the same source claims the Blues could be beaten to John Stones’ signature in the summer.
According to Tom Hopkinson: “Chelsea hope an improved bid as well as the offer of one of their young stars on loan for next season will convince Everton to do business and that by moving early they will steal a march on City and their incoming boss Pep Guardiola.
“Stones impressed with his attitude after his transfer request was rejected by Everton - he knuckled down and refused to let his football suffer because of what was happening off the field.
“But both Chelsea and City feel he is gettable this time out and try hard again to sign him.”
Elsewhere, the Daily Mail report Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci is also a target.
Writes Pete Jenson: “With City managing only a draw at Norwich they are all but out of the title race and Guardiola wants the man at the heart of the meanest defence in Serie A to beef up City’s rearguard.
“Guardiola described Bonucci as one of his ‘favourite-ever players’ and with City favourites to sign France midfielder Paul Pogba, Bonucci’s arrival could complete an £85million double.
“A move for the Juventus centre half would not necessarily rule out a bid for Everton’s John Stones but the Italian is his No 1 target.
“Juventus are open to selling Bonucci as part of a rebuilding process this summer. His contract runs to 2020 but he will be 29 in May and if City are willing to pay £25m for him then they would sell.”
Finally, 101 Great Goals suggest David Alaba has ‘rejected’ a potential move to the Etihad Stadium by signing a new deal at his current club.
Scribes Benjamin Newman: “City, who will be managed by Pep Guardiola next season, have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s brilliant 23-year-old utility player.
“Overnight, those transfer rumours have been flushed down the toilet, as word has come out of Germany that Alaba is set to agree a new Bayern deal keeping him at the club until 2021.”
