Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin had consistently been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium but after signing a new deal with the Gunners back in November, talk of a switch subsided.
But the Mirror believe a deal could be back on. They say the 21-year-old does not want to return to Barcelona and claim it is City who are leading the chase to sign him, should Arsenal decide to cash in on one of their most valuable assets.
They write: “Hector Bellerin is not interested in a move to Barcelona, reports Don Balon.
“The Spaniard only put pen to paper on a new deal in November but continues to be linked with a move to his former club.
“It is claimed he doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake as Cesc Fabregas, who struggled for opportunities on his return to Spain.
“Manchester City remain keen on Bellerin and are now thought to be in pole position.”
Meanwhile, Yaya Toure has admitted he wants to continue playing for many more years.
The 33-year-old says he looks at the example set by the likes of Ryan Gigs and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and believes he can emulate their longevity.
“I don’t know about next season. I don’t think about it. I am just about enjoying having my team-mates around,” he told the Mail.
“You have guys like Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling who sometimes pass me and say “Ah, uncle is on the phone.
“When you see my career, it is one year, two years, three years maximum at one club. It is a long time.
“What the fans give to me, I want to give it back so I will do all I can until the last minute and if I am done, when I am done, I am done.”
That’s all for today. See you tomorrow – same time, same place.
