Let’s start with a report by Simon Bajkowski in the Manchester Evening News who has looked at City’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
The Blues are in control of their own destiny thanks to the weekend’s results that saw City hammer Crystal Palace, while Liverpool and Manchester United both dropped points.
It leaves City knowing three wins from their final three matches will secure a third-place finish and automatic entry into Europe’s elite competition.
Bajkowski has summarised City’s end-of-season permutations like this:
“NINE points will guarantee third place for City
“SEVEN would probably be enough for third owing to their goal difference compared to Liverpool’s.
“SIX points will be enough - certainly to qualify and probably to finish third - if Liverpool fail to win their two remaining games
“FIVE will confirm AT LEAST fourth place IF Arsenal drop any points
“FOUR should confirm AT LEAST fourth place IF Arsenal AND United drop any points.”
All sounds fairly simple, right?
Moving on to transfer news, of which there’s plenty, and City are once again being linked with big-name incomings this summer.
Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is one such example, with reports in Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggesting City are monitoring his situation closely.
It is understood Barcelona are also interested in securing the services of Bellerin, a plater widely considered to be one of the best young defensive talents in Europe.
Mundo Deportivo are also reporting that City will launch “the most amazing” transfer of the summer.
Although no specific names are put forward, they claim the Blues are looking to bring in another top-class forward to bolster attacking options ahead of next season.
