NICK CUSHING PREVIEW
“We simply cannot afford to drop points. We came close to doing so in the away fixture at Everton – and we’ll be wary of that.
“Willie Kirk is a very good coach and he always plays the way I like.
“They have good, young players who fit his brief like he had at Bristol, and we need to make sure we are on our game to try and get the result we need.”
LAST TIME OUT
City kicked 2020 off to a flyer with a stunning 4-1 triumph at Tottenham Hotspur.
Pauline Bremer continued her excellent scoring form with a brace, while Ellen White also claimed a goal and two assists with Lauren Hemp completing the rout.
Rianna Dean had halved the deficit for the hosts on the 20-minute mark from the penalty spot but the visitors proved too strong and produced a clinical performance to kick off the New Year.
LAST MEETING
City produced an emphatic display of attacking football to beat Everton 4-1 and end the Continental Cup group stage in fine style.
Nick Cushing’s side started slowly on Merseyside but goals from Tessa Wullaert, Lauren Hemp and two from Gemma Bonner made it a comfortable victory.
The Toffees had levelled through Molly Pike’s sensational strike, but City dominated the second half and added goals which could prove vital in our bid to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
