The Blues head into Sunday’s clash with Notts County two points behind league leaders Chelsea and needing the Londoners to drop points in their game against Sunderland to stand any chance of lifting the league crown.
Despite that, opened the scoring in the 6-1 triumph over Bristol Academy, asserts her side will not be worrying about events in Staines and should focus on themselves and the task at hand.
“We can only control what we can control,” she declared. “There’s no point wasting energy looking at other teams’ goal difference and what they are all doing.
“I didn’t watch Chelsea play Liverpool on Sunday. I like to concentrate on us. They have had a great season and so have we.”
Always looking to improve, Scott revealed she felt her side could have done more in the first-half of the Bristol game and hopes the Blues will produce one of the impressive, dominant displays they’ve become known for in the final league clash of the season.
“The first half performance wasn’t up to our standards,” she admitted. “We managed to go in 3-0 up on the back of a performance that wasn’t really ourselves; then we came out second half and stepped things up.
“We knew that goal difference was something we could control if we put the ball in the back of the net and thankfully we did that.”
Even with so much at stake this weekend, the England star insists Nick Cushing’s side have made no special preparations and will treat Sunday’s encounter like they do any other.
If Chelsea do go on to lift the title, City would finish second with a win – and Scott believes that achievement alone would define a successful campaign.
“We will just do exactly what we always do,” she continued. “We go into every game wanting to win so preparation will stay exactly the same and I think that’s something that this club prides itself on.
“If we were to finish second, that would guarantee Champions League football and that’s a massive progression from last season.”
