The midfielder, who was also selected in the Team of the Year alongside teammates Jill Scott and Lucy Bronze, collected the award following a phenomenal 2015 campaign.
In addition to helping the Blues to a top-two finish in the Super League and Champions League qualification for the first time, she also bagged three awards at the Club’s End of Season Awards night and received her first call-up to the England squad.
She beat Chelsea’s double-winning stars Ji So-Yun, Gemma Davison and Hedvig Lindahl to the PFA prize, having played a key role in City’s incredible run which saw Nick Cushing’s side win 13 of their last 15 games.
Reflecting on her award, she declared: “I’m feeling extremely proud - it still hasn’t sunk in yet!
“I’m obviously delighted to win such a prestigious award and I want to thank everybody that’s helped me get to where I am today.
“I feel like it’s just the start of my career and hopefully, I can go on to win more things.
“I’ve always said since I was young: there’s no better accolade than being recognised by your teammates and this is the icing on the cake.
“I feel extremely honoured to be given this award in such a fantastic era for women’s football.”
Another memorable night for MCWFC also saw Nikita Parris and Keira Walsh nominated for the Women’s PFA Young Player of the Year award.
