The Scotland international was awarded Player of the Match, as the Blues booked their place in the semi-finals of the Continental Tyres Cup, and is eager to face the Yorkshire outfit again on Thursday night in the Super League.
Reflecting on the quarter-final triumph, she declared: “First of all, we’re happy to get the win.
“I thought the girls did well considering we’ve had a lot of games in quick succession. We wanted to get the win and we’re through to the semi-finals so we’re pleased with that.
“Being named Player of the Match was another pleasing aspect for myself. I’ve had a bit of an up-and-down season with injuries so I’m happy to be back playing. It was a brilliant performance from everyone; I was really happy with how everyone played.
“It was a good game for us and it was good to get the goals at the end to finish it off. It was a little bit frustrating only scoring one in the first half when we dominated, but that’s something we’ve worked on this year.
“Teams will block against us and, credit to Donny, they were really hard to break down. The forwards stuck at it and we eventually got the goals.
“The first thing you want to do after a game is to play the other team again, which we do on Thursday. It’s a big week ahead. We’ll train and analyse our game and hopefully, we’ll be able to pick up another three points.
“We’ll focus on ourselves and be ready for any style of play they throw at us.”
The cup clash also saw history made as Man City Women became the first women’s team in the UK to stream a competitive match through Facebook Live.
City’s passionate following has become a talking point in the women’s game and Beattie expressed her delight, as fans around the world were able to watch the victory.
“It’s great,” she smiled. “I’ve had a couple of friends from home tell me how they thought it was pretty cool, even though they’re not the biggest fans of football.
“A few of them switched on from Glasgow and it’s another step forward for women’s football. Thanks again to the Club for putting that together.
“I’d also like to say a massive thanks to everyone who comes out to support us. Credit to all the staff that get everyone in the gates.
“We really appreciate everyone who comes out to watch and it’s always a brilliant atmosphere. Everyone loves playing at home.”
Beattie’s versatility is proving a major benefit, with injuries to key players. Although previously employed as a defensive midfielder, the Scotland international took her place alongside Steph Houghton in the centre of defence – a position she prefers.
She explained: “I’ve had a few discussions with Nick [Cushing] and my national team coach and I signed as a defender really.
“I love playing there and I’ve got a good partnership with Steph and anyone else who plays there.
“I was more than happy to fill in in midfield - it definitely developed my game and I enjoyed it with the style of play we play here.
“I think moving forward, I’m definitely happy with playing at centre back.”
