Having already claimed the Nissan award in previous years with a selection of stunning strikes, the forward ensured she is in the running once again with a superb turn-and-volley to open the scoring in Denmark.
Though naturally delighted, the England star insists though she was more pleased with the significance of her effort than its execution.
“I’m buzzing,” she told ManCity.com. “It caps an amazing season.
“We’re into the quarter-finals and I’m delighted to be on the scoresheet. It’s been incredible this year.
“I’m looking forward to seeing who we get in the next round. I don’t care who it is! I know it’s going to be tough – there are some great teams left.”
Asked to describe her goal, she replied: “I can’t to be honest! It’s natural instinct.
“It’s come in off a throw-in, Jane [Ross] has set it and I’ve turned on the volley and hit it with my left foot. I’m even more pleased I’ve scored it with my left but I’m just delighted we got the win and we’re through.”
With the last 16 tie arriving after City’s domestic campaign had ended, Duggan admitted the players have had to dig in over the past fortnight.
“It was difficult at the end of a long season,” she conceded. “It’s been a tough few weeks – we had to win the league and the cup. It’s been hard mentally and physically, and Brondby are a great team - they’ve proved that in the past.
“We knew it would be tough and there was a great atmosphere, but fortunately, we had our fans here supporting us.
“Credit to them for making the journey – they really helped us in the last ten-fifteen minutes. We stuck together like I know we can and we’ve come away with a draw which was enough.
“I’m looking forward to a little break now because I don’t think what we’ve achieved has sunk in but I’m sure it will in the off season.”
