Man City Women will face Fortuna Hjorring in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Blues’ reward for defeating Zvezda Perm and Brondby IF in their debut campaign is a two-legged encounter against the Danish outfit, who reached the final in 2003.

Fortuna have made this stage for the first time since 2003 after ending a run of Round of 16 losses every year since the current format was introduced in 2009/10.

In the round of 32, Fortuna overcame Athletic with a goal a minute from the end of extra time by Brazil defender Tamires, having only equalised late in regulation time.

Nick Cushing’s side will play away first, with the ties to take place on 22/23 and 29/30 March. Fixture and ticket information will be released in due course.

Should the Blues progress, they would be the first debutants to win a quarter-final since Tyresö in 2013/14, and would face either reigning champions Lyon or two-time winners Wolfsburg in the semi-finals.

The final will be held at the Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday 1 June 2017.
