The Blues’ league title and Continental Tyres Cup victories in 2016 are the Blues’ second and third trophy successes in their three years together, and the England striker believes the best is yet to come.
Speaking to ManCity.com after the 1-1 draw with Birmingham which ensured Nick Cushing’s side ended the domestic year unbeaten, she reflected: “It’s amazing.
“It’s a bit weird because we won the title a couple of weeks back to but to be here with the trophies and the fans. has been great.
“The Club have really looked after us and we’re grateful for the effort they put in for us. It’s nice to give something back.
“On the back of the success this year, hopefully we can keep building.”
The Blues had to come from behind to maintain their status as Invincibles. Duggan added it was the team’s determination to do so which earned the point.
“We knew we had to be up for the game,” she continued. “We wanted to be unbeaten in the league and it’s worked out well.
“We knew it was going to be tough. We had to dig in. Birmingham are a good team and they made it difficult but there was no way we were coming off that pitch unbeaten.
“We’ve gone the whole season in great form and in great shape.”
Asked whether she feels her side will retain their league title, she replied: “We can try, although I’m not thinking about that now. We just want to enjoy this one.
“Looking forward, it will be 10x harder – it always is. People says it’s hard to retain it but with the squad we’ve got, we can do big things in this women’s game and in the Champions League as well.
“We have to look forward to that in two weeks’ time. I think we can go far in that. As a player, that’s the type of football you want to be playing at a big club like this. I hope we can push on and achieve everything I know we can.”
