In their debut season in the top flight, lifted the trophy with a 1-0 triumph over Arsenal – their first major piece of silverware.
On Sunday, the Blues have the chance to write their name onto the cup for the second time in three years when Birmingham visit the Academy Stadium.
Having already secured the league title last weekend, Parris says the club view the 2014 success as the start of an era, which she’s proud to be part of.
“We wanted to get to the Conti Cup final at the start of the season,” Parris declared. “It was the first trophy this club won so it is a special competition for everyone at City.
“This is the trophy that made City realise they could compete against the best and beat the best. It really set us up for the following season when we chased Chelsea all the way in the league.
“It didn’t quite happen but this year, we have let Chelsea and all the other teams chase us.
“I think that all stems back from the Conti Cup win in 2014 and the belief that gave the whole club.”
City’s league trip to Birmingham this year proved one of the most hard-fought victories for Cushing’s side.
Parris was influential in Solihull. Involved in both goals of the 2-0 win, she first hit the post which led to Daphne Corboz’s rebound and then helped seal the points in injury time, skipping past her marker and crossing for Jane Ross to head home.
The winger expects a similar test this weekend, and has warned her side to beware Birmingham’s threats.
“Defensively they are very strong and they have made a couple of good signings to help them in attack so it will be really tough to break them down,” she predicted.
“We’ll have to make the most of the space we do get. Everyone knows they will be hard to beat and they will cause us problems up top.”
