Anticipation is building in Manchester for Man City Women’s Champions League semi-final clash with Lyon.

On Wednesday morning, the city centre awoke to find more than 300 MCWFC scarves draped, hung and hidden throughout its streets as Saturday’s mouth-watering first leg tie approaches.

Lucky members of the public who have found the scarves (located everywhere, including Marker Street, Victoria, Piccadilly, the Northern Quarter and St Ann’s Square) were welcome to take them and wear them with pride to show their support for the Blues, who has made history by reaching the last four in their debut European campaign.

In 2016, ’s side lifted the Super League and Continental Tyres Cup trophies, finishing the league season unbeaten.

Scarf-wearing supporters are invited to share a picture on Twitter and Instagram using #cityvlyon for the chance to win prizes*, including golden tickets to the weekend’s unmissable game, a meet-and-greet with the team, signed player shirts and general admission tickets.

Sharing her thoughts on the campaign, captain declared: “Saturday’s game against Lyon is set to be one of our toughest to date, so it’s incredible to see so much support for us across Manchester.

“People often underestimate the power of fan support in spurring the team on.

“Just knowing that everyone is behind us and helping us achieve our European dream is definitely increasing our desire to win this weekend.

“Seeing all the pictures on Twitter has been great too. Keep them coming!”
