The USA star won gold at England’s national stadium in the Olympics in 2012, scoring twice in the final against Japan, and she helped Man City Women to their first FA Cup success with a goal in the stunning 4-1 victory over Birmingham.
The midfielder bravely rose to meet a pinpoint Megan Campbell cross the backpost, converting to hand the Blues a 3-0 half-time lead.
The resulting celebration that ensued portrayed just how much the strike meant to Lloyd, who grew up watching the FA Cup from afar.
“I’m really proud of everyone,” she beamed. “We got the job done.
“It was a fantastic team performance. I know the girls have been trying to win this competition for quite some time.
“I’ve come in over the past month or so and tried to help push it along. I’m happy to have been part of it.
“I have lots of good memories of Wembley. After London 2012, it was good to come back and have the opportunity to play there again.
“It’s a fantastic stadium and pitch. To come here and claim two wins from two is pretty good!”
Reflecting on her goal, Lloyd added: “It was great service by Megan and I was happy I could finish it.
“It was a set corner kick routine that we had rehearsed in training.
“I knew Megan was going to whip it in and I got on the end of it. I think I shouted so loud that Steph [Houghton] ducked out of the way for me!
“One of my favourite goal celebrations was from the Olympics.
“It was on the opposite side but I slid after my first goal. I thought: what better way than to celebrate with a goal on my return to Wembley by doing a sliding celebration?!”
