Megan Campbell is delighted to finally be showing Man City Women what they've been missing.

The Republic of Ireland defender, who missed much of the 2016 campaign with injury, has been in red-hot form since her return with five assists in three games.

Her unique set-pieces and pinpoint deliveries helped the Blues to two Spring Series victories and their first FA Cup success – and the 23-year-old now hopes to stake a claim for a regular first-team spot.

“It’s been nice to get back on the grass with my team and build up my minutes,” Campbell reflected.

“I played 75 minutes on Saturday and I’m looking forward to getting more minutes under my belt.

“I’m excited about the next few weeks. I hope to impress even more if I can.

“You want to be on the pitch – no matter where it is. You just want to provide for the team – whether that’s with assists or goals. Thankfully, I’ve been able to do that.

“You’re there to do a job and I want to prove I’m worthy of staying here and getting a new contract.”

City return to FA WSL Spring Series action on Sunday with the visit of the newly-promoted Yeovil.

The Blues currently sit third in the table, level on points with Chelsea and with two games in hand over league-leading Liverpool.

Following on from their 2016 league and cup double and last weekend’s FA Cup triumph, Campbell has urged her side to maintain their high standards.

“We’re really looking forward to the game against Yeovil,” she declared.

“They’re a new team in our league so it’s going to be interesting to see what they bring to the plate.

“We’re going into the game on a high with the FA Cup win so there are going to be positive vibes but we know we can’t let up.

“We’re focused on the Spring Series. We want to win as many trophies as we can.

“We have won three trophies in quick succession. Moving on, we want to win the Spring Series and progress further.”
