Manchester City duo Georgia Stanway and Jill Scott were successful at the Women’s FA Awards in London.

Stanway’s goal against Chelsea back in February was named the FAWSL 1’s Goal of the Season, while Scott was crowned joint Players’ Player of the Year alongside Ann-Katrin Berger.

The England Under-19 has netted 11 goals over the course of the season, with a number of her strikes being scored from long-range.

The winning goal was a spectacular rocket to take City level with Chelsea during our FAWSL match at the Academy Stadium.

After receiving her award, the teenager said: “It was a season of highs and lows but this is a moment I’m particularly proud of.

“Huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me!”

Meanwhile, Sunderland-born Scott was voted the Player of the Year alongside Berger by team mates and peers in the League. The 31-year-old has made a staggering 114 appearances for the Blues and has 126 England caps under her belt – and her experience and leadership hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Scott shared the award with Birmingham ‘keeper, Berger, who courageously returned from thyroid cancer treatment after just two months to help her side.

Both Scott and Stanway have been integral parts in our second-place finish in the table over the course of the season, and the awards are well deserved!

Elsewhere in the competition, Karen Bardsley and Ellie Roebuck were both nominated for ‘Save of the Season’, but Bristol City stopper Sophie Baggaley secured the award on the night.

Nikita Parris and Demi Stokes were shortlisted for the Vauxhall’s England Player of the Year, which was won by Birmingham striker Ellen White.

While, impressively, four out of the five nominees for Young Player of the Year were Blues as Ella Toone, Esme Morgan, Keira Walsh and new recruit Lauren Hemp were all up for the prize. Beth Mead was named as the winner.

Congratulations also to Megan Campbell, who was named Ireland Senior Women’s Player of the Year at the inaugural CRISC Awards and Dinner in Dublin

The left-back, who is well-known for her monster throw-ins, has made 22 appearances for City but saw her 2017/18 campaign hampered by injury.

Well done to all nominees!
