The forward, named the FA WSL’s Player of the Month for February, is hoping to feature as City lock horns with Arsenal in the Continental Tyres Cup Final in a repeat of the 2014 finale at Adams Park.
Stanway has already helped the Blues to success in the 2016 competition, plus a league title and first FA Cup triumph, in addition to captaining England Under-17s to a bronze medal at the World Cup.
Despite her youth, the Barrow-born attacker earned her first call-up to the Lionesses’ senior squad for the SheBelieves Cup and is making a name for herself as one of the most promising young talents in the English game.
Admired for her speed, drive and ability to shoot from range, she has already bagged 16 goals in her 46 City appearances, including a sensational and crucial leveller against title rivals Chelsea last time out.
There is no limit to what the youngster can achieve but for now – ever-grounded – Stanway is focusing on the task at hand and once again dreaming of cup final glory.
“We are very excited,” she told ManCity.com. “The fact we’ve got this far shows we can do it.
“We’ve got the character and the team spirit so let’s hopefully, get the result and enjoy it.
“We proved that we can beat them earlier in the season at the Academy Stadium when we got the result.
“We would like to say that would happen again but it’s a Cup Final and anything can happen!”
With so many stars on international duty, Nick Cushing’s side have had little time to prepare for Wednesday night’s clash but Stanway asserts her side will be ready and eager.
“We’ve just had the international break, which was a huge experience for me, and we are very excited to get going as a team now,” she added.
“It’s definitely a quick turnaround but I think we enjoy that the most, as nothing compares to a gameday and we’re looking forward to it.
“A lot of the Arsenal players didn’t go away on international breaks, which gives them the opportunity to put together a gameplan and be a bit fresher than us but we’ve got what it takes to get the result.
“Not one person complains. Everybody wants what’s best and there’s no feeling like winning.”
