The 25-year-old joins the Club from Gyeongju KHNP on a two-year deal, subject to international clearance, and will wear the number 17 shirt.

She follows in the footsteps of compatriots Chelsea’s Ji-So Yun and West Ham’s Cho So-Hyun in making the move to England, having represented her country at the 2019 World Cup this summer.
The striker impressed in France, catching the eye of the footballing world and City manager Nick Cushing with a piece of individual brilliance, executing a superb backheel into the path of Min-ji Yeo for South Korea’s first goal of the tournament.
Admired for her flair, dribbling ability and outgoing personality, Geum-min hopes to help City to further success, while seeking to drive her personal development on and off the pitch.
“I’m very honoured to be here,” she declared.
“Manchester City – the name itself – is very attractive to me and I want to experience the English league.
“I know there are many good teams in the English league and many good players. I know from my own experience that they are strong, fast and very technical.
“I have watched them at the World Cup and also I know Ji So-yun and Cho So-hyun very well. We talked about English football so many times. They gave me some practical advice as well, especially on what I need to bring and the English language.
“I’m very excited to be here in Manchester. I like walking and everything is in walking distance. It will be so much better when I speak better English but it’s been really good.
“To my teammates, my coaches, my manager, the fans and everyone involved, I want to be remembered as a good player.
“I will do my best to impress them and have a positive impact. I am very excited to join this team.”
Having started her career at youth level with Hyundai Info-Tech HS and Ulsan College, Geum-min signed for Seoul in 2015.
She spent two years at the Club, bagging 26 goals and creating 12 assists in 57 appearances, across three seasons. She joined Gyeongju KHNP in 2018.
On the international stage, the forward has enjoyed plenty of success, helping her country to glory in the 2009 AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, 2010 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and 2013 AFC U19 Women’s Championship.
Since making her senior national debut, she has scored 16 goals in 54 games, and is excited to showcase and enhance her abilities under Cushing’s leadership.
“I think myself very technical,” she added. “I think one of my main advantages is my ball possession capability. I want to fully exploit my technique and skills.
“I’m very active. I play well with others. I like people. I know I sometimes look shy; however, I am an outgoing person through and through. When I get comfortable, you will see many crazy aspects of me!”
Reflecting on his latest signing, manager Cushing said: “Previously, we’ve tended to recruit English or European players, but we wanted an attacking player who would bring us some real attacking prowess and a bit of flair.
“We watched South Korea in the World Cup and we were really impressed by Geum-Min – her ability to go one-v-one against players in the attacking third and her ability to create chances and score goals.
“Initially, we saw her at the World Cup and then we saw a lot of footage from her Club team in South Korea. She’s not only a good player but she has a lot of potential to improve and grow. We think we can help her to do that here at Manchester City.
“We know we need competition for places because that breeds consistency in our performance and our results. We’re really pleased and excited for the future.”
