The 18-year-old has signed her first professional contract with Nick Cushing’s side after already turning heads on the international stage.
Toland made her Republic of Ireland debut at the tender age of 16 and was a key part of the side who were pipped to a place at this summer’s World Cup by eventual quarter-finalists Norway.
Her exploits in that campaign also saw her nominated for the senior women’s international player of the year at the FAI awards back in March, and while those individual accolades mean a lot to her, she was equally proud to get the deal done at City.
She said: “I’m delighted to sign, I’m very excited. Since I was four or five my dream was to become a professional footballer and now it’s a reality.

Moving to a new country as a teenager can be a daunting prospect, but our new number 12 has been helped by linking up with a familiar face in fellow Republic of Ireland international and Blues defender, Megan Campbell.
However, she was quick to add that she has been given a warm welcome by all her new teammates: “I’ve spoken to (Megan) for a couple of months, she was buzzing when she found out (I had signed).
“I’ve spoken to the manager and I’ve met all the girls. They’ve all been fantastic in helping me to settle in.
“Nick (Cushing) is fantastic, I’ve seen him out on the training ground.
“He’s a brilliant manager and I’m looking forward to working under him.”
But while she will be keen to make her mark at the CFA and impress the boss, Toland is keeping her feet firmly on the ground when it comes to targets for her debut season.
“I’m going to work hard… and hopefully help the team as much as I can,” she revealed.
“If the game time comes then it comes… hopefully (we can) lift a trophy at the end of the season.”
