The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a multi-year deal, committing her immediate future to the Club.
One of the brightest young talents in the English game, Hemp has already clocked up 32 appearances for Nick Cushing’s side, since joining in the summer of 2018, scoring nine goals and playing her part in helping the Club to a domestic Cup double.
The forward famously scored at Wembley in the FA Cup Final triumph over West Ham, showcasing her best attributes by racing onto a long ball and finishing coolly past the goalkeeper to add the icing onto the cake – and the teenager hopes to experience more memorable moments in sky blue.
“I’m really excited to be extending my contract with City,” said Hemp. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and it was definitely an easy decision.
“Since I joined the Club, I’ve loved every minute and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

“I’ve improved a lot, especially with my confidence. I’ve gained a lot of that since getting a lot of gametime, scoring goals and creating chances. I hope to do that in the next couple of years with City.”
Admired for her pace, composure and positive attitude, the 2017 England Young Player of the Year and 2018 PFA Young Player of the Year has thrived under the leadership of manager Cushing and the influence of her international teammates.
Having worked her way through the England ranks, helping the Young Lionesses to Under-20 World Cup bronze medal success, she received her first call-ups to Phil Neville’s senior squad in a series of training camps this year before earning her first cap in October.
Although publicly tipped to achieve greatness, the ever-humble Hemp is keeping her feet firmly on the ground, focused on reaching her potential.
“I’m still not the finished article – there are some things I need to improve on – but being at City, with the best coaches and teammates around me, is the best environment to get the best out of myself,” she added.
“Nick is a really good manager and he helps me a lot to improve in different areas, and he knows what I need to do to get to the top. I have to keep playing, scoring goals and helping the team as much as I can. Working with him is what’s going to get the best out of me.
“Being able to train every day with the calibre of players we have has been massive for me and my development. There are a lot of senior women I look up to, such as Steph Houghton and Jill Scott – I looked up to them when I was a child; before I joined City.
“I’m friendly with quite a lot of the younger players too and I like to try and help them develop, giving advice on their journeys as well. I’ve made a lot of friends.
“I try not to set a limit on myself because you can do things you never thought possible. I just want to keep working hard, improving every day and performing each week to hopefully carry on winning games and picking up trophies.”
Manager Cushing expressed his delight to secure Hemp’s services.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Lauren as a player in our squad for the future,” he said.
“It was imperative. I think she’s been exceptional this season; she’s really shown her offensive ability and she will get better.
“She knows she can be so much better. She has so much potential and we want to work with her.
“The future is bright for Lauren. We have to keep playing her and keep pushing, and we’ll both benefit from that.”
