It’s been quite the year for Lauren Hemp.

She’s won trophies, scored in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium and made her England debut.

The 19-year-old winger ended a memorable 2019 with a fine performance and goal in City’s 5-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, as she further evidenced her status as one of the FA WSL’s most exciting and in form prospects.

Now, having taken a tentative step into the Lionesses senior set-up, she is hoping she can maintain her form and win a place in Phil Neville’s Great Britain squad for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

“I would love to go to the that,” she said.

“I’m just taking each day as it comes and keep trying to improve as a player and hopefully those things will come.

“I just want to keep performing how I am.

“Keep pushing each week to try and be a better version of myself. Keep creating chances and scoring goals to help the team win trophies.”

Nick Cushing gave his young star a glowing review after she penned a new multi-year contract earlier this month.

It was announced amidst a string of impressive performances, in which the Norfolk-born youngster scored three times in five games.

And England’s 2017 Young Player of the Year, who needs just six more goals across the rest of the season to equal her best ever return, expressed how much she is enjoying her football at present as she revealed that she feels close to her top level.

“I think it’s the best form of my career,” Hemp added.

“Obviously I don’t know when I’m going to have my best form, but at the moment I’m enjoying it each week and hopefully I can carry that on throughout the season.

“We’ve started this season quite well and we’ve pushed for a few wins and we’re looking to progress that next year.”
