Canada confirmed their tag as tournament dark horses with a comfortable 2-0 win over New Zealand - a score that flattered the Kiwis somewhat.
Beckie was a continued thorn in New Zealand’s side as he tormented the opposition down the left flank.
Though Beckie saw plenty of the ball, she didn’t manage to help her team find a way through in the first-half despite dominating.
After the break, Beckie raced down the flank, cut inside and curled a shot just over the bar with 47 minutes played.
Moments later, the Canadians were ahead when Jessie Fleming broke the deadlock with a close range finish.
Beckie then weaved a terrific chance for Christine Sinclair a minute later, but she fluffed her lines when well placed.
Nichelle Prince effectively ended the contest on 79 minutes, stabbing home from close range to make it 2-0 and finally extinguish Kiwi hopes of a point.
Beckie’s night ended on 83 minutes when she was substituted, but the game was won and Canada’s place in the last 16 was assured - the first time they gave achieved the feat outside of North America.
