The midfielder joins the Club on a two-year deal, following the expiration of her contract at Liverpool.
Coombs brings with her a wealth of domestic experience, having represented Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea (amongst others), helping the latter to a league and cup double in 2015.
The 28-year-old also competed in America’s W-League with the Los Angeles Strikers, and hopes her experience will help Nick Cushing’s side to emulate this year’s cup double-winning success.
“I’m really excited to be here,” she told CityTV. “It’s a great opportunity and I’m really happy.
“City are a top Club and have been for a few years now, continually competing at the top of the league, winning trophies and attracting top players.

“It’s a really good opportunity and I’m looking forward to working under Nick Cushing, as I’ve only heard good things from past and present players.
“I’ve played with a couple of the girls over the last couple of seasons and they’ve sang the praises of both Nick and the Club, which made my decision easier.
“He said it would be a great opportunity for me and he thinks I could bring something, and I agree.
“I think you can always improve technically and tactically. What a lot of people say about Nick is that he finds things you didn’t know you could improve on. For me, potentially being a goalscoring midfielder is something I’ve wanted to aspire to.
“City are a really ambitious Club and there are a lot of things in my career I still want to achieve. I feel that being here gives me the best opportunity to do that.
“I’m really excited to get started.”
Coombs describes herself as an ‘aggressive, box-to-box midfielder’, who likes to play football the right way and contribute with goals. As a result, she feels she and City create the perfect match.
“I’m quite calm and, hopefully, I’ll bring that on and off the pitch,” she explained.
“I’m really hard-working as well. I’m a quite aggressive, box-to-box midfielder – I like to get my foot in and play good football, which always attracted me to City.
Asked about her personal ambitions for the coming campaign, Coombs highlighted her European dream as the main target.

“I’d love to get far in the Champions League,” she said. “I’ve played a few games at previous clubs but here, I feel there’s a real opportunity to go deep into the competition.
“There’s the league trophy too. I would like to do everything!
“I just want to be the best version of myself I can be week in, week out. Goalscoring is my thing and every year, I want to keep improving.”
Commenting on the signing, City manager Nick Cushing said: “Laura is a box-to-box midfielder who plays with a lot of passion.
“She is one of those players that puts in the hard work needed to maintain possession and create chances during games.
“She has the potential to be a top player and we are very excited to have Laura at Manchester City where we feel we can give her the opportunity to play at her highest level.”
