Nick Cushing is keen for his side to pose a multitude of attacking threats and Bonner revealed set-pieces have been earmarked as an area where last season’s double cup winners can have more joy.
With Wullaert and Caroline Weir providing expert delivery from dead ball situations, the centre-half feels it’s important that players who pose an aerial threat deliver.
“With the quality of the delivery that’s been coming in, we’ve looked at that as an area we can score more goals from,” she revealed.
“It was a great ball from Tessa and it was good to get the first goal and settle us into the game.
“It’s not often I score twice in one game. You could probably tell I didn’t know what to do when I scored!”
City have hit the back of the net 11 times in our last three games, an emphatic response to a disappointing week at the end of October when we were eliminated from the Champions League and lost a Manchester derby.
With the attacking talent at Cushing’s disposal, Bonner admits there is an expectation amongst the squad that they rack up the goals.
Nonetheless, the 28-year-old says the 5-0 win over West Ham, which preceded the clinical display against the Toffees, is a welcome boost and something City hope to continue in the final fixtures before the festive break.
“It gives us confidence,” she said of the recent free scoring run.
“If we’re being honest, we could have scored a lot more in both games, but especially against Everton.
“I think for us, with the quality we’ve got up top and with the midfield players feeding the balls in, we should be scoring.
“It’s good for our confidence building up to the Christmas period.”
