Georgia Stanway reflected with huge pride after marking her 100th appearance for City with a two-goal salvo in our 5-0 FA Women’s Super League win over West Ham.

Stanway was presented with a special City 100 shirt to mark the achievement by manager Nick Cushing before kick-off.

And, on what was an eventful afternoon for the 20-year-old at the Academy Stadium, she scored twice, also provided an assist and was then sent off late in the second half after picking up two yellow cards.

Ellen White, Lauren Hemp and Tessa Wullaert were also on the mark as City heralded the FA’s bold Women’s Weekend of Football initiative in perfect fashion.

“On a personal level its amazing to have played 100 games for this club,” Stanway reflected.

“It was very special to score the two goals on a such a special day as today, but I couldn’t do it without the girls and staff and I’m so, so thankful to be a part of the team.

“It was even more amazing to do it on the Women’s Weekend of Football and hopefully we can get more and more fans coming week in, week in.

“My family were up there in the stands, so it meant a lot to me and to be presented with the shirt before and with the win and the goals, I can’t top the day off.

“The sending off was one of those things. With how I play I like to tackle strong, but I’ll rest and recover and be sure I’m ready to go next Sunday (away at Bristol City).

“We knew in order to build momentum we had to make sure we got the win

“We needed to get better in the final third and it puts out a statement of who we are and what we are about.”

It has been an eventful first four years for Stanway with the forward helping City to win one league title, two FA Cups and two Continental Cups.

And the England internationals believes the best is yet to come both on a personal and collective level.

“Coming to City was the best decision I ever made it was the easiest and I thank everyone who has been part of my journey and helped me to get to this point,” Stanway added.

“I love Manchester City. We have won five trophies in my first four seasons and hopefully we can keep building on that.

“I’ve got a few more years and hopefully more after that so I can turn 100 appearances into 200.”
