Nick Cushing’s side regroup after the international break with a home league clash against West Ham United on Sunday 17 November at 12:30pm, in a landmark event organised by the FA to encourage football fans across the country to attend a women’s game during the men’s international break.

City smashed the FA Women’s Super League attendance record back in September, hosting Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in the first Manchester Derby of the professional era – and Campbell hopes those who attended the historic spectacle will show their colours once more for the Hammers’ visit.
“It’s going to be big,” she declared. “The women’s game is growing, continuing to get bigger and bigger.
“The stage is now a lot larger with social media and all those backgrounds helping along the way.
“Initiatives like Women’s Football Weekend provide the opportunity to show how far women’s football has come and how far it can go in the future.
“Hopefully, people will continue to buy into the sport. We want to break a lot of boundaries.
“If we can get 31,000 to go to the Etihad Stadium, I don’t see any reason why we can’t fill the Academy Stadium week in, week out.
“It comes down to us as players to grow the game too in terms of ability – how we play technically, playing attractive football.
“With a Club such as City and the stature behind it, there’s no reason we can’t sell the stadium out.”
Competing in their second season in the Super League, West Ham have impressed with their commitment to the women’s game both on and off the pitch.
September’s encounter against Tottenham Hotspur was hosted at the London Stadium, attracting a crowd just shy of 25,000 – the second best crowd in the league’s history – and the Hammers have enjoyed a solid start to life in the top flight.
City last faced Matt Beard’s side in the FA Women’s Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, having clinched a league double over the Londoners with a 7-1 home triumph and 3-1 away win.
Although Cushing’s side boast a fine record against the Hammers, Campbell expressed her admiration for the London outfit and warned against complacency.
“They’ve come a long way from last season,” she noted. “They played in the FA Cup Final against us so we knew it was always going to be a strong team.
“They’ve signed a good few players – they’ve lost a few but gained a lot.
“They’ve had some good results over the start of the season and we’re looking forward to the challenge of playing them at home.
“We had a good result at home against them last season so hopefully, we can build on that and go again.”
City are back in FA Women’s Super League action against West Ham on November 17th. Kick-off at the Academy Stadium is 12.30pm and tickets are available.
