The Blues have won all their games so far this campaign and moved to the top of the FA Women’s Super League ahead of today’s clash between Chelsea and Arsenal, but Walsh says focusing on the next game throughout the campaign is the only way to move forward.
“We’re just trying to put the emphasis on ourselves and taking it game-by-game,” said Walsh.

“In the past, we’ve been guilty of looking at what the teams around us have been doing a bit too much, but this season we sat down and talked about what we could do better.
“It’s a tough month and we need to just focus on the next game and not look beyond that.
“We’ve got a massive game this week against Atletico so all we can do is keep winning league games and put the pressure on the sides around us.”
Walsh claimed a rare goal in the victory over Birmingham and admits she should have a crack at goal more often…
“The girls always tell me to shoot more – I probably don’t shoot enough – but even though it took a deflection, I’ll take it!
“I’m not normally known for my goal-scoring so I’m not complaining!”
And on her player of the match award, she added: “Yeah, I’m probably not best known for my tacking, either! I’m not a tough tackler so it helps when you’ve got great players around you like Caz Weir – she’s always getting into the pockets of space and is much easier to find.
“In the second-half, the whole team showed a lot of quality; we kept the ball well and created a lot of chances so we’re all happy with the way the things turned out.
“We grew in confidence as the game went on and after the third goal went in, we started passing the ball around well and the game was won.”
A City fan from being a youngster, Walsh admits she is living the dream playing for the Blues, but says without the influence of head coach Nick Cushing, much of her success wouldn’t have been possible.
“I have to sit back and pinch myself sometimes that I’m playing for the club I support, but I’m just enjoying it and want to keep working hard and improve as much as I can,” she said.
“Nick’s brought me through from an early age and I don’t think I’d be where I am now without him so I owe him a lot and want to do the best I can for him and the club.
“He is such a good manager and so detailed in his work and training sessions that it makes it easy for everyone – he’s such a calming influence on the sidelines and we all enjoy playing for him.”
