Janine Beckie believes Manchester City can match any team in the FA Women’s Super League ahead of Sunday's clash at fellow table-toppers Everton.

Nick Cushing’s side boast an identical record to the Merseysiders with both teams picking up maximum points, scoring three and conceding no goals so far this campaign.

And while Beckie insists Sunday’s opponents should not be taken lightly, the Canadian thinks we have enough to make it three wins from three.

She said: “We definitely have to give them respect, they’ve played well so far this season.

“But I don’t think there’s anyone in the league that should be able to beat us across ninety minutes.

“We go into every game with that focus that if we play how we know we can it will be really difficult to beat us.”

Everton manager Willie Kirk steered the club away from the relegation trapdoor after being appointed in December 2018, guiding them to a tenth-placed finish last season.

Nonetheless the Blues have got off to the best possible start in the new campaign, and Beckie’s teammate, Demi Stokes, expects the team to be pushed to their limits at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

She revealed: “(Everton) look like they went through a transition period… it is hard for managers to just come in and change it within one day.

“You can see obviously now they have got their philosophy and are (going) in the right direction. I think it will be a different game to last year and will be made a lot harder.”

Nonetheless, the England fullback remains confident that Nick Cushing’s side can do the business: “You’ve got to respect the team and the individuals… (and) be aware of their strengths but the main focus is on us.

“That’s all our preparation ever is, we’re not going to change too much but obviously we respect the opponent.

“If you concentrate on yourself hopefully we will get the job done.”
