Nick Cushing’s side sailed into the Round of 16 with a thumping 11-1 aggregate triumph over FF Lugano, courtesy of 7-1 and 4-0 victories in both rounds.

Beckie wrote her name onto the scoresheet in both ties, hitting a hat-trick in the home leg, and the Canadian striker asserts her side can emulate our previous achievements of reaching successive semi-finals and lift the trophy.
“Absolutely,” she stated. “The difference this season is the willingness to put in the work and we are hard to break down. We will have to play at top of our game but it’s doable!
“It would have been difficult for Lugano to get back into the game so we were confident, but we wanted to put in confident performance.
“You’ve got to beat everyone to win. You want to play in the big games but we don’t think anyone can beat us!”
Restored to the starting XI, the Canadian forward certainly took her chance to shine.
She opened the scoring after just five minutes with a deft chip before showcasing her predatory instincts with her second and third goals.
With Pauline Bremer having hit the headlines with six goals already this campaign, Beckie admitted she knew she had to deliver – particularly with other attacking players absent through injury – to give Cushing a selection headache.
“It’s great,” she declared. “I’d missed a few chances in my last few games and you’re at the point that it’s just known that I had to start scoring.
“I think I score a lot of goals getting in behind as that’s my game but my second and third were just about the hunger to get into the box.
“I hadn’t been putting chances away in games so I’m very happy with performance.
“The pressure was what I put on myself. I’m surrounded by amazing players and those players who are out are huge losses for us.
“Pauline has been on fire and has a knack for goals, Caroline Weir is so important and best player for us this season.
“It’s awesome to be in that group of players so when I come off the pitch, having done that, it’s great. It makes Nick’s decision harder but it’s a decision he wants to have.”
City have little time to rest with an FA Women’s Super League trip to Everton on Sunday, as Cushing’s side look to make it six wins from six.
Everton have started the season brightly, sitting top of the table, and Beckie has been impressed with the Toffees’ improvement.
“I think Everton will be a tough game,” she added.
“They’re one of those teams who sit in the middle of the league but they’ve been better this season.
“We’ll have a fresh squad for Sunday.”
