Although pleased with his side’s dominant display in his first game in charge, Mahon hopes City will turn possession into goals, starting this weekend with the FA Cup fifth round visit of Ipswich Town.
“For my blood pressure, I’d like us to score a few more!” he joked.
“To go 1-0 up in the first two minutes was a good start and we managed the game well in parts, but we need to be more clinical in the final third.
“We were delighted to get the win under our belt, although the game itself wasn’t that great.
“With the results against Bristol City last season, it had the potential to be a bit of a banana skin but we got three points – a big three points – and we move onto the next game.
“We’ll give the utmost respect to Ipswich and we won’t take them lightly.
“Every game is important and we’d like to build some momentum. The objective is to continue to do what we’ve been doing.
“We’ll crack on, take each game as it comes and go from there.”
Mahon also expressed his pride for the way City have maintained professionalism, following Nick Cushing’s departure.
“The attitude of the girls has been brilliant,” he added. “They’ve worked really hard and I’m very proud of them.
“The girls will work hard and we – the staff – will work hard and crack on as normal.”
