Aguero and Foden together with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, defenders John Stones, Fernandinho, Oleks Zinchenko, midfielders David Silva and Raheem Sterling all come into the starting eleven.
Manager Pep Guardiola has also selected a strong looking bench with Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus – who both scored in our Champions League win at the Bernabeu – amongst those waiting in the wings.
Starting X1
Bravo, Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Zinchenko, Rodri, Gundogan, Silva ©, Sterling, Foden, Aguero
Subs: Ederson, Otamendi, Mendy, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Mahrez, Jesus
Aston Villa X1

Subs: Reina, Taylor, Lansbury, Hourihane, Konsa, Trezeguet, Davis
Probable formation and tactics
City are set to deploy our tried and trusted 4-3-3 formation.
With Walker, Fernandinho, Stones and Zinchenko the defensive bulwark in front of Bravo, Rodrigo will act as the midfield defensive shield with David Silva and Gundogan also operating in the engine room.
Sergio Aguero is expected to form our attacking spearhead with Foden and Sterling also deployed on the front foot.
However, as City again demonstrated in that superb win against Real, our formation is a fluid beast so expect the unexpected!
Six of the best?
City will step out at Wembley seeking what would be a sixth consecutive domestic trophy and a third successive Carabao Cup victory following our triumphs in 2018 and 2019.
Having won the Community Shield, Carabao Cup, Premier League and FA Cup last season, City began the 2019/20 campaign by extending that domestic success with another Community Shield victory.
Should we win, it would also be our seventh League Cup triumph in total and a fifth success in the competition in the past seven years.
City, of course, also have the psychological boost of having already beaten Villa twice this season.
We recorded a 3-0 win over Dean Smith’s side at the Etihad in October last year and then posted a handsome 6-1 success at Villa Park in January.
It’s also another notable landmark occasion for Pep Guardiola who will be contesting his 25th major final as a manager.
So far, the boss had tasted success on 20 of his 24 finals in the managerial dug-out – including all six during his tenure at City.
Here’s hoping we can make it lucky seven!
Stats and facts
This will be the 60th League Cup final and the 57th different match-up of teams in the final - Aston Villa and City have met four times previously in the competition, with Villa winning three times and City once.
It will also be the first ever meeting between Aston Villa and City at Wembley and only their second ever at a neutral venue, with City winning 6-1 at Leeds Road in Huddersfield in the 1933-34 FA Cup semi-final.
Aston Villa have scored 19 League Cup goals this season, with City the last team to score 20 in a season back in 2013-14 (22). The Villains last scored more in a campaign during 1985-86, scoring 25 times.
City have won the League Cup six times, a tally surpassed only by Liverpool (eight). City have won the trophy in four of the last six seasons, including each of the last two; the only team to win it three years in a row are Liverpool, who won it in four consecutive years between 1981 and 1984.
City have won seven of our last eight matches against Aston Villa in all competitions (D1), scoring 26 goals and conceding just three across those games.
