TEAM NEWS
CITY XI: Ederson, Walker (c), Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol, Stones, Lewis, Foden, Bernardo, Alvarez, Haaland
Subs: Ortega Moreno, Carson, Phillips, Ake, Kovacic, Gomez, Nunes, Bobb
PREVIOUS MEETING
City last locked horns with Aston Villa in February when first-half goals from Rodrigo, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez helped us secure a 3-1 win.
Meanwhile, we were held to a 1-1 draw on our previous visit to Villa Park when Erling Haaland’s opener was cancelled out by Leon Bailey’s effort in September 2022.
LAST TIME OUT
In our previous assignment, the Blues played out a dramatic 3-3 draw with Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.
Son-heung Min scored at both ends inside the first nine minutes before the hosts took the lead through Phil Foden, but Giovani Lo Celso then equalised with 20 minutes to go.
Jack Grealish then entered the field of play from the substitutes’ bench and appeared to have sealed the points for City when he tapped home on 81 minutes.
However, Dejan Kulusevski had the last word on 90 minutes, making it 3-3 with a header that skimmed in off the underside of the crossbar.
